A quick glance at the fixture list reveals that Chesterfield's next home game (Tuesday 20th October) is against Colchester United. It instantly rekindles memories of a past Tuesday night game against the U's that took place 11 years ago. One could argue that it reflects the peak performance of Paul Cook's first stint in charge of the Spireites; nobody at the time could have foreseen what was to come for Chesterfield for the next few years after this night.

The 2014/15 season marked the Spireites' return to the third tier after clinching the League Two title in the previous campaign. In late July/early August, the primary objective was to, naturally, avoid an immediate relegation back to the fourth tier. Paul Cook's side was able to look much further ahead than that though.
