With the start of the 2026/27 League Two campaign only two days away, excitement is building towards Chesterfield's match this weekend against Fleetwood Town at the SMH Group Stadium. Saturday provides a very quick opportunity for the Spireites to gain revenge on the Cods, after they knocked Paul Cook's side out of the EFL Cup in the first round last weekend with a slender 1-0 victory.

Without further ado, let's look back at Chesterfield's last five opening league games to whet the appetite further for Saturday's match:

2021/22

The Spireites started this league season with a long away trip to Aldershot Town in the National League. Chesterfield made a perfect start to the campaign as they defeated the Shots 2-0 to record three points on the road.
