Such is the regard for Liam Mandeville that the Spireites fans even sing his song when he’s just warming up on the sidelines. Since signing for the club in the summer of 2019, he’s gone on to make over 325 appearances in all competitions. I don’t think he thought it would be this way.
A legend is a phrase that can be used in any context these days, even if it’s massively over-exaggerated. However, Mandeville's legendary status is fully justified for his performances and appearances for Chesterfield Football Club.
Signed in 2019 after leaving the club he was brought up on in Doncaster Rovers and following a season-long loan at Morecambe, he left the club and was picked up by John Sheridan and Chesterfield - largely thanks to Jack McKay who recommended Liam to Sheridan when at the club. Mandeville and McKay had been in the youth system at Rovers when growing up.
