Spireites Are A Force To Be Reckoned With In Fourth Tier Of Women's Pyramid
19.10.26, 18:06 3 Minute Read
Chesterfield FC Women secured an excellent 1-0 victory over Wythenshawe FC Women yesterday at Debdale Sports Park in the FA Women's National League Division One Midlands. This marked back-to-back league victories for Pete Jarvis' side and stretched their winning run in all competitions to four games.
Lauren Brogan's superb looping long-range finish on the stroke of half-time proved to be the difference between the two sides, in what was a very close and hard-fought contest.
In many ways, this could arguably be the team's most satisfying win of the season so far. Wythenshawe were a well-organised, physical team that posed the Spireites several questions over the 90 minutes. They managed plenty of shots on target, but Chesterfield goalkeeper Zoe Millington produced a phenomenal performance to keep a clean sheet. Two of the stops she made were genuine save of the season contenders and she was unquestionably the player of the match.
