Chesterfield gave a significant boost to their attacking firepower on Monday, after completing the signing of Scottish striker Fraser Bryden on a three-year deal.

Bryden, 22, joins the Spireites off the back of a strong 2025/26 season in Northern Ireland’s Premiership in which he finished as second-top scorer with 21 goals.

That return came even as then-club Crusaders battled towards the bottom of the table for much of the campaign and only avoided relegation via a penalty shoot-out win in a play-off with second-tier side Annagh United.

Such positive personal output in spite of that wider context likely helped draw the attention of Paul Cook and his backroom staff, ultimately convincing them to part with an undisclosed fee and hand Bryden a contract running right through until the summer of 2029.
