Chesterfield have begun their summer transfer business by bolstering their back line, securing the services of young defender Junior Eccleston from National League side Sutton United.

Eccleston, a product of Sutton’s academy, moves to the SMH Group Stadium on a contract running up to the summer of 2029 and in a deal reportedly carrying an undisclosed fee.

This represents the latest upward swing in what has been a very positive start to the 19-year old’s career, with him having spent much of the 2024/25 season out on loan at then-step three outfit Walton and Hersham before breaking into and becoming a key part of The U’s team in the most recent 25/26 campaign.
