Chesterfield took their number of summer signings into double digits on Thursday, bringing young midfielder Rafiq Lamptey in on loan from Championship side Millwall.
Lamptey, brother of former Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq, had previously been on trial with The Spireites and appeared during the second half of their pre-season draw with a Bohemians XI over in Ireland.
Now the 19-year-old is confirmed to be remaining at the SMH Group Stadium on at least something of an extended basis, having joined on a loan deal intended to last the entirety of the 2026/27 season.
This will be Lamptey’s first chance to sample senior football away from his parent club and essentially his first experience at that level full-stop, with his competitive first-team minutes with the Lions so far limited to 25 in an FA Cup tie at Burnley back in January.
