Four-midable Performance Earns Victory For Spireites Women

Chesterfield FC Women produced an excellent performance on Sunday to defeat Sheffield FC Women 4-1 at the SMH Group Stadium in Group R of the FA Women's National League Cup.
The Spireites began the game very brightly indeed and took the lead after only two minutes thanks to Imogen Fowler's composed finish from around 12 yards out. Fowler came agonisingly close to grabbing a second goal just before the quarter-hour mark when an excellent strike clipped off the bar.
Chesterfield's constant pressure was soon rewarded again though as a trademark bullet header from Amy Nowell doubled the hosts' lead after 20 minutes. The Spireites played some outstanding football in the first half and almost capped off the opening 45 minutes with a third goal when Sophie Marshall's strike was lifted narrowly over the bar following a superb team move.
