Chesterfield begin their 2026/27 League Two campaign at the SMH Group Stadium on Saturday, looking to enact swift revenge on Fleetwood Town for last weekend’s EFL Cup exit.
Ched Evans notched the only goal of the game in the first half of a reverse meeting between these two sides at Highbury Stadium, and in doing so extended the Spireites’ run of first round exits in the competition to a staggering 14.
Also a familiar feeling to supporters would’ve been the high possession for no reward manner of that defeat, so an immediate opportunity to showcase a more ruthless edge against the same opponent is a pretty welcome one.
