Paul Cook’s side have had a mixed bag of a summer pre-season starting out with a victory at local non-league outfit Clay Cross Town before a positive home draw against Sheffield United. The Spireites were then defeated at National League side FC Halifax Town before a behind closed doors win over Boston United, also from the league below.
Chesterfield then travelled to Ireland last week and were given a real test against a Bohemians XI in a 2-2 draw, which was just the type of game the Spireites required. This game is likely to be the Spireites final fixture before the season commences a week on Saturday at Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup.
