Chesterfield have announced that they have signed midfielder George McEachran on a two-year deal. The 25-year-old has been with Grimsby Town over the past two seasons and was part of the side which reached the League Two playoffs last campaign.

McEachran came through the Chelsea academy with loan spells in the Netherlands at SC Cambuur and MVV Maastricht. The former England youth international joined Swindon Town in February 2023 before joining the Mariners in the summer of 2024.

Brother of Bristol Rovers’ midfielder Josh, George was part of the England team that won the Under-17 World Cup in India. McEachran lined up in the side with the likes of current internationals Marc Guéhi and Phil Foden of Manchester City; also in the team was Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
