Chesterfield's final preparations on the pitch ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 season took place on Friday evening when they took on National League outfit Scunthorpe United at The Attis Arena. A goal from George McEachran gave Paul Cook's side the lead before Alfie Beestin equalised for the Iron.
The 120 minute match ended as a 1-1 draw. With the season proper now just around the corner, let's take a look at the main talking points from Chesterfield's last pre-season game.
INJURIES
There was good news and bad news from the pre-season fixture with Scunthorpe. It was pleasing to see Ryan Stirk get 60 minutes or so in the game following his brutal injury against Notts County in the semi-final second leg of the play-offs. His collarbone injury required hospital treatment at the time. Thankfully for Stirk, he had the majority of the summer to recover and hasn't missed too much football. Whether he starts against Fleetwood Town will remain to be seen, but he didn’t put a foot wrong and looked good alongside George McEachran.
