Chesterfield recorded their first home league win of the season last weekend after beating York City 2-0 thanks to goals from Lee Bonis and Dilan Markanday. Following this victory, the Spireites are now up to eighth place in League Two.
Without further ado, let's take a look at the talking points after an impressive win at the SMH Group Stadium:
Dilan Markanday
Yes, it would be wrong of me to highlight one particular player in a game where all 16 that were used played a part in an excellent performance and result. However, Markanday was sensational and his goal typified his and Chesterfield’s dominant second-half display. Markanday’s goal was, and forgive me for over-egging perhaps, Diego Maradona-esque. After receiving Fraser Bryden’s pass and outsmarting his opponent, he cut across the face of goal, finding the only spot between the outside of the post and the defender's leg to squeeze the ball into the net. Sublime!
