Talking Points: Spireites Finish With Only A Point Despite Dominance

Paul Fisher discusses the talking points following Chesterfield's 2-2 draw at Crawley Town in League Two over the weekend.

Chesterfield were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw by bottom-of-the-table Crawley Town at the Broadfield Stadium in League Two last weekend. Goals from Lee Bonis and Louie Marsh gave the Spireites a healthy two-goal lead in West Sussex, but they were pegged back by a quick-fire second-half brace from substitute Gianmarco Di Biase.

Without further ado, let's take a look at the talking points following Chesterfield's latest game of the 2026/27 campaign:

Frustration

It was a routine away day at a side propping up the division having lost all of their home games to date this season. It ended up being a frustrating afternoon having seen Chesterfield completely dominate the game but end up with only a point. Having said that, they played better at Cheltenham Town and lost. This time, they held a two-goal advantage of which they should have scored more and ended up drawing a game they should have won, yet moved up a place in the table to make Saturday an okay kind of day. Football’s weird at times.
