Chesterfield claimed two points from their latest group stage game in the Jersey Mike's Trophy after defeating Port Vale 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.

It took changes in the second half for Chesterfield to get a grip on the game. In the first half, the Spireites should have been on the end of a thrashing. Time and time again Port Vale opened up the defence and failed to capitalise. Only once did they breach Ryan Boot when it really should have been more. Chesterfield got lucky.
