At the same time Chesterfield played Port Vale in Staffordshire on Saturday in League Two, several non-league clubs up and down the country left everything on the line in their attempts to earn a spot in the first round proper of the FA Cup. The weekend saw plenty of gutsy underdog cup runs come to a brave end, but some incredible fairytale adventures were rewarded with another chapter.

The first round proper draw for the FA Cup will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1, HBO Max and the TNT Sports YouTube channel on Monday at 6:30pm. The Spireites will enter the competition at this stage, just as they did 30 years ago when the astonishing 1996/97 cup run began.
