Spireites Women Secure Cup Victory

Summer signing Ruby Shore scored her first goal for the Spireites after 34 minutes to break the deadlock, before the visitors equalised straight afterwards. However, the Blues responded well to that setback and edged in front again before the interval, thanks to Tilly Hallas-Potts' first goal for the Spireites since joining from Sheffield FC Women earlier this year.

Pete Jarvis' side killed the game off after 77 minutes when striker Evie Carter converted from the penalty spot. The victory marks an end to a run of two defeats in a row in all competitions for the Spireites.

Elsewhere in Group R today, third-tier side Loughborough Lightning cruised to an 8-0 victory over fourth-tier outfit Sheffield FC Women.

Chesterfield FC Women have two group games left to play in the FA Women's National League Cup after last month's match away at Loughborough Lightning was abandoned due to thunder, lightning and torrential rain. This game, according to the FA Women's National League website, has been rearranged to take place on Thursday 17th September with a 7:45pm kick-off time.

The Blues are next in action on Sunday 13th September when they host Kidderminster Harriers Women in the FA Women's National League Division One Midlands. After three league matches played so far, the Spireites occupy eighth position out of 12 teams following a win and two losses.
