Chesterfield have confirmed that 22 year-old midfielder Luke Butterfield has joined National League outfit AFC Fylde on loan for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.

Butterfield has struggled for first-team game time since joining the Spireites in July 2025 after being released by Premier League side Everton. His time at Chesterfield has been blighted by misfortune after suffering a broken foot during his competitive debut for the club, which saw him placed on the sidelines for quite some time. Butterfield, capped by Scotland at U16 and U19 levels, has only made five first-team appearances for the Derbyshire side at the time of writing.
