Chesterfield FC Women are through to the second round of the Women's FA Cup after beating Harpenden Town FC Women 3-2 on penalties following a goalless draw after 90 minutes at Rothamsted Park.

With neither side able to make the breakthrough, Imogen Fowler, Ruby Shore and Sophie Marshall converted their spot-kicks to help seal the Spireites' spot in the second round draw. Goalkeeper Zoe Millington made a crucial save while two of the hosts' penalties were struck against the woodwork.

The result means that Chesterfield are now on a run of five games without a defeat in all competitions.

The second round of this season's competition sees no new teams added at this stage, so the highest-ranked team that Pete Jarvis' side could face would come from one tier above where the Spireites currently play in the pyramid.

The Women's FA Cup second round draw will be broadcast live on Monday from 7pm via the Women's FA Cup, TNT Sports Football and Channel 4 Sport YouTube channels. At this point in the competition, the tournament will continue to be regionalised and the second round draw will be split between a north and south section.
